Abstract

269,721. Stephenson, A., and Allen- Liversidge, Ltd. April 1, 1926. Cleaning-apparatus.-In apparatus for cleaning moulds by intense local heating followed by brushing, the mould and flame are traversed relatively to one another at a definite rate,. Fig. 2 shows a rubber tyre mould mounted on a turntable 1 so as to move past a group of oxyacetylene blow-pipes 6 arranged to cover the whole surface of the mould and a rotary brush 7 mounted on an inclined shaft 8 driven from belt pulleys 12. The brush rotates at a greater peripheral speed than the mould and brushes the material from the blow-pipes. The flame jets may be proportional to the quantity of material to be removed, larger jets being used to play upon those portions of the mould carrying the greatest accumulation. Water or other cooling means may be used to cool the cleaned mould.
