Cams.-In decompressor or other cams for valve-operating mechanism on motor cycles &c., the cam swell 5 is formed by driving a piece of hardened rod 6 into a recess drilled either in the cam body 3 alone, Fig. 3, or through a flange or gear-wheel 7, Fig. 2, into the cam body. In the forms shown, the decompressor swell 5 is located in a circular part of the cam opposite the main exhaust swell 2 and only extends partly across the cam so that an associated valve lever can be mould into or out of engagement therewith.
