Abstract
268,166. Laurent, P. J. May 13, 1926. Cartridge belts.-A fabric is woven with two superposed webs t, t' which are connected together at the parts b, so that tubular portions a are formed across the fabric at equidistant parts or otherwise in the length of the fabric. Rubber warp threads are introduced in the web t but not in the web t<1>. The fabric is woven under tension so that when removed from the loom, the elastic parts t of the tubes a contract and cells are formed. The weaving in the parts b is such that although these parts contain rubber threads they are not elastic. The cells may be formed with narrowed portions. Metallic warp threads l may be placed in the selvage so as to give some rigidity at the entrance of the cells. The strips produced may be used for cartridge belts or machine gun bands. The cells may be made conical or cylindro-conical to receive the cartridges.
