Abstract

268,079. Roddis, C. H. Jan. 27, 1926. Soldering-irons. - Crystalline materials for electric heating resistances such as silicon, iron pyrites, carborundum, molybdenite, bornite, zincite and ferron are electroplated with metal in two 'distinct places and conductors secured to the electroplated portions by soldering, brazing, welding &c. or electrodeposition. Fig. 1 shows a piece of crystal 10 of this sort arranged in a soldering- iron. One end of the copper bit 18 is welded to one metal cap 19 of the resistance and to the other is secured a springy metal tape 21 conneting it to a terminal 22.
