Abstract
267,328. Igranic Electric Co., Ltd., and Spaink, J. H. Abbink-. June 16, 1926. Retarding and time-limit devices; electricmotor actuation; switches, actuating.-In a timing apparatus which is driven through an electromagnetic clutch and after performing its function is released by the clutch and permitted to return to a normal position, the clutch has a field winding which rotates with one of the clutch elements and is energized through slip-rings carried by said elements. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the electric switch 1 when closed causes operation of a relay 3 which connects the motor and electromagnetic clutch 5 across the supply lines. The rotation of the motor after a predetermined time causes a projection 12 carried by the clutch armature to close a switch 13 so energizing a relay 2 which completes its own maintaining circuit and also de-energizes the motor and clutch 5 permitting the member 12 to be returned by a spring to its initial position. The controlled circuit 15, 16 may be subsequently opened by the opening of switch 4 and consequent de-energization of the relay 2. The clutch shown in Figs. 2, and 4 has the ends of the winding 5a of the electromagnet 5<b>, which is secured on the shaft 17, brought to slip-rings 7, 8 on which bear fixed brushes 6, 9. The plate armature 5<c> is loosely mounted on the shaft 17 and the arm 12 is normally held in its starting position by a helical spring 11 connected between the plate 5<c> and a fixed post. To vary the initial position of the arm 12 it is carried by a peripheral band 28 adjustable in a groove surrounding the plate 5<c>. The electromagnet energizing coil is protected by a shield 27 bolted to the face of the electromagnet 5b on which the attracted plate 5<c> is adapted to bear. A number of such clutches may be driven by a common motor for producing operations after different or similar time intervals.
