Alkali carbonates; ammonia; ammonium chloride.-In the process of the parent case for producing various compounds (including metal salts, alkali carbonate, ammonia, and ammonium chloride) by reactions involving the decomposition and regeneration of a silicofluoride or borofluoride, the insoluble fluoride, silicon or boron fluoride, and salt, instead of being used directly to reform the original silicofluoride or borofluoride, are reacted with a salt of another metal such as zinc sulphate so as to obtain another silicofluoride or borofluoride which is then reacted with a salt of the first metal so as to reform the original silicofluoride or borofluoride and produce in addition a zinc or other salt. In an example, sodium silicofluoride is heated to produce sodium fluoride and silicon fluoride, the sodium fluoride is reacted with calcium nitrate to produce sodium nitrate and calcium fluoride, and the calcium fluoride is reacted with silicon fluoride and zinc sulphate to produce zinc silicofluoride which is then reacted with sodium chloride to regenerate sodium silicofluoride and produce zinc chloride.
