Abstract
265,560. Flagg, E. Feb. 4, 1926, [Convention date]. Ball and roller bearing hinges; disc hinges.- Hinges are formed with a pair of hinge plates adapted to be set horizontally into slots in a door and a jamb, the protruding parts of the plates being shaped so as to nest with one another directly or to nest about an intermediate ball bearing to form the rotating parts of the hinge. The plates 10, 11 are formed with integral cylindrical parts 13 adapted to receive securing screws or nails 16, the door and jamb being suitably slotted and bored to receive the hinge plate members, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. According to one arrangement, the outer ends of the plates are formed with cup-shaped casings 20, 21 connected together by a pin 26, and the lower housing contains a roller bearing comprising an inner member 23 resting against a hub 22 and an outer member 24 in contact with the upper casing 20, the members 23, 24 being separated by a series of balls 25. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the plates 10, 11 are connected to cup-shaped members 27, 28 that nest together, a cap 29 being mounted on the connecting pin 30.
