Abstract

265,503. Tresidder, T. J. Oct. 18, 1926. Linear-dimension gauges.-Comprises a particular construction of adjustable micrometer calliper of the beam type. The beam a carries a fixed head b having a fixed anvil c and is provided with a longitudinal key-way for the key of the sliding head d which may be clamped at any point by the screw e. The hardened adjustable anvil g is screw-threaded with a fine screw to pass through the head d. This anvil may be clamped in any position by a rod h prevented from rotation by a pin k engaging a slot in the rod which is moved downwards by a screw j. A friction head for the anvil is provided by a flanged disc l between which and a cover o is housed a disc m carrying leaf springs n which bear on the anvil and communicate to it a torque of limited but constant amount, slipping occurring when this is exceeded.
