Abstract

263,906. Feybusch, M., and Fleischer, P. W. Dec. 4, 1925. Labelling. - In a can labelling-machine employing a glue pan which moves into or out of operative relation with a gumming-roller each can C is placed on rollers 44, 45 for rotating it counter-clockwise, and is held in position by a pivotally and adjustably supported roller resting on the top of the can and by adjustable rods 77 engaging the ends of the can. A label L from a pile on a table 15, 16 is fed by hand to feeding- rollers 23, 24 which feed the label against the gumming-roller 28. The gumming-roller rotates counter-clockwise and the lower curved portion of a tension plate 27 bends the label and presses it against the gumming roller. The gummed label is taken off the gumming-roller by fingers 53 and guided by their curved portions into contact with the can where it is engaged by the roller 44. The label is now fed by this roller, which has a less surface speed than the roller 45 so that the label is applied with a brushing or wiping action.
