Abstract
263,312. Lucas, E. E. Feb. 12, 1926. Charging.-Apparatus for preventing entry of air to annealing and like furnaces during charging comprises a hood 4a within which is arranged a vertically or horizontally movable charging-box 13 divided by a partition into compartments a, b, and attached to an operating-rod 16. A pusher 11<a>, for feeding the articles into the furnace 2, projects through the hood 4<a> between two doors 14, 15, and has its head 24a packed with refractory material 25 so that it may be used to seal the mouth 1 of the furnace when desired. In operation, while one of the compartments a, b is being loaded through the door 14, or 15, the articles in the other compartment are transferred to the furnace by the pusher 11<a>,
