Abstract
262,113. Allgemeine Elektricitõts- Ges. Nov. 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Detecting, indicating, and locating faults.- Apparatus for registering faults of insulation in insulated conductors which are locally tested by high tension along the whole of their length by the " pull-through " method is so arranged that when a faulty part passes through the apparatus a spark strikes across a gap and passes through a registering strip. The conductor 1 to be tested passes through a metal vessel 2 containing small balls 4 and is earthed at its ends. The vessel 2 is connected through a resistance; inductance, capacity, or transformer W to one end of the secondary winding of a transformer U, the other end of which is earthed. In parallel with the resistance W are condensers C and a spark gap F through which a paper registering- strip 3 is passed at a speed proportional to that at which the cable 1 is unwound.
