Abstract

261,798. Pesch, P. Nov. 21, 1925, [Convention date]. Scum apparatus; blow-down apparatus.-A perforated blow-down pipe a at the bottom of a boiler has upwardly extending branches b terminating in perforated scum-collectors g opening at the surface of the water irrespective of the rise and fall of the water level. The scum col. lectors slide in the ends of the branches and are moved up and down with the changing water level by floats e. In a modification, the scumcollectors are fixed to the branches and have perforations from top to bottom over the highest and lowest positions of the water level. The number of perforations in the sections of the blow-down pipe increases with the distance of the sections from the blow-down cock h.
