Abstract
A carrying device, such as a bucket for cement, is disclosed. The device 99 has a receptacle 1 with a mouth and a support edge 7 with an upper surface and a lower surface. There is a handle 3, which is secured at two support locations 2. The lower surface of the support edge has a reinforcing member 61 which extends around the mouth, and which attaches to the handle. The reinforcing member may be a metal wire. The support location may be a hole that catches 9, of the reinforcing member, may extend through. The handle may have a grip 4 and the reinforcing member may be held in bracing ribs which are inside a channel of the lower surface of the support edge. The device may also have a pouring spout, and the reinforcing member include a curved segment 8 for the spout.
Description
A DEVICE
Field of Invention
The pictured embodiment of the invention provides a device for carrying items or fluids, in particular a receptacle such as a bucket more particularly but not exclusively a bucket for carrying cement or similar fluid.
grief Description of Figures
Figure 1 shows a sketch of an isometric exploded view of an embodiment of the device according to the present invention; and Figure 2 shows a sketch of a detail isometric view of a stack of the embodiment of the device shown in Figure 1.
Detailed Description of the Embodiment
With reference to the figures there is shown an embodiment of a carriage device 99 generally comprising: a carrying receptacle 1 defining a receptacle mouth, having a carrying support edge 7 with an upper surface and a lower surface; and a carrying handle 1; wherein the handle is secured to the edge at two support locations 2, and the lower surface of the support edge comprises a reinforcing member 61 which extends laterally from the support locations and onto which the handle secures.
It may be envisaged that the receptacle may comprise a bucket, particularly suited to carriage of heavy fluids such as mixed cement.
In some embodiments the edge may be envisaged to extend continuously around the mouth.
In some embodiments the reinforcing member may be envisaged to extend continuously around the mouth or the edge.
In this way the member may be envisaged to spread load from the handle around the edge and mouth.
This is advantageous as carrying heavy loads in a bucket exerts large forces on the handle and the handle's mounting or securing locations.
The device of the present invention may advantageously distribute force more evenly around the handle support edge or rim of the bucket to prevent areas of concentrated stress that may otherwise result in a mechanical failure.
In some embodiments lift receptacle may be formed in plastic, such as injection moulded High-Density Poiyethylene (HDPE), forming a moulded whole.
In some embodiments the handle may be metal, for example wire. In some embodiments the handle may include a handgrip or grip, for example a tubular part formed in injection moulded acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) or similar.
In some embodiments the member may be metal, for example wire. In some embodiments the mouth includes a spout In some embodiments the receptacle may comprise a lid. Such lid may be envisaged to close over the mouth displaceably at least in part, for example having one or more hinges.
With particular reference to the pictured embodiment the embodiment 99 comprises a plastic bucket receptacle tapering upwards from a flat circular base to a circular mouth with a larger diameter than the base.
The sides of the bucket are provide with longitudinal ribbing 10 adding purchase for tipping and structural strength. The base may also include ribbing adding purchase for tipping and structural strength.
Around the mouth there is a support edge 7 provided by a folded rim, with a top 2urface parallel the base and a depending side, defining a lower surface that is located within a channel formed by the depending side, the lower surface and the side wall of the bucket.
The support locations 2 are two holes in the upper surface extending through to the lower surface. The support locations are spaced apart on the circumference of the edge, at opposing positions.
The member 61 is formed by a continuous metal ring extending around the lower surface.
The continuous metal ring helps to distribute the loads exerted on the bucket around the rim.
The handle 3 is a metal wire 5 fed through and bent around the member to fix the handle and member together.
The member has two arcuate securement catches 9 extending upwards in use and into, onto and around which the handle 3 secures. The handle 3 has reversed ends 6 to secure around the catches 9.
The metal ring of the member 61 is held securely by bracing ribs 67 extending inwards from the sides of the channel on the lower surface of the edge. Such ribs increase the rigidity of the bucket shell and provide alternative hand-holds when users are tipping the bucket.
The pictured embodiment further comprises a pouring spout for ace-trate and controlled application of cement. The member includes a curved segment 8 deviating around the underside of the edge where the spout is provided.
As shown in Figure 2, the embodiment is stackable for space efficient storage and/or transport.
The handle 3 includes a handle grip 4, formed in a tubular plastic moulding in injection moulded ABS with internal ribbing for strength.
he handle otherwise comprises CNC (computer numerically controlled) formed and welded mild steel wire 5.
The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing from the scope of invention.
NAnth respect to the above description then, it is to be realised that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, unction and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.
