Collision-guards.- In a motor vehicle, means for adjustably securing a buffer bar 15 of angular section to a spring plate 13 which lies in a plane at right angles to the planes of the web and flange of the buffer bar comprise clamping plates 16 which can be engaged respectively with the upwardly and downwardly directed faces of both the buffer bar and the spring plate at any point along the length of the buffer bar. The end of the spring plate 13 is slotted to take over the web 11 and is bent to clear the clamping bolt 24 and it is also notched on its upper surface at 21 to form a stop for the end of the clamping plates. The bend of the plate 13 may be in the neighbourhood of the clamping bolt 24 and touch,. internally, one downwardly directed flange 25 of the clamping plate 16 and the free end of the plate 13 may touch the other flange 25 of the same clamping plate internally so that relative movement between the clamping plate and spring plate is prevented. In a modification, two buffer bars 15 grip the plate 13 between their webs 11 through similar clamping plates and clamping bolt.
