Abstract
A section of track 4 that is used to connect photovoltaic arrays 2. The section of track joins the track 1 on each array to allow a robotic cleaning system to travel from one array to another. This reduces the number of robotic systems required.
Description
Description
PV arrays can be standard or axis tracking. In desert regions or in sunny regions where it doesn't rain during sunny times in the year in consecutive time, the production of the PV system can be reduced between 10% and 40%, dust can also reduce lifetime and create hotspots on the panels.
Some robot cleaning systems suggest their ROI is between one and two years, nevertheless the systems are still high priced and several cleaning robots are needed per PV array cleaning area. However this solution would provide the chance to have fewer to one robotic cleaning system per PV power plant. The robots can clean fast if it cleans at a speed of 1 km per hour, it can clean 1 kilometer of PV arrays in one hour, if the PV arrays provide an additional table that allows it to transport itself between PV arrays.
The innovation is to connect or place tables that can connect the different axis tracking systems at horizontal tilt to allow the cleaning system to from one tracking system to the next as shown in figure land figure 2.
This system can also be utilized for fixed tilt PV panel holding systems, however in regions with fixed tilt systems it rains frequently and such a cleaning robot system is possible not as util as in a sunny region.
Summary
Tracking systems and cleaning systems allow PV systems to utilize DNI radiation rather than GHI radiation at the highest possible production rates. The robotics cleaning systems are relatively high priced and with a table in between PV arrays less robotic cleaning systems are required, thus increasing the price for the robotic cleaning system.
