Abstract
260,480. Armstrong Siddeley Motors, Ltd., and Viale, S. M. March 17, 1926. Cylinders.-A cylinder 4 is mounted by being screw-threaded into a sleeve 5, flanged at 6 and slidably fitted in an aperture in the crank case, and retained in position by a radially arranged device-e.g. a set-screw 8 having a conical head or a plain stud 10-which engages a hole in the crank-case and one of a series of holes in the sleeve 5. The face 17 of a cylinder flange 14, which is buttressed at 15, and the face 18 of the crank-case are gripped by a grooved split ring 16, which is tightened by a tangential screw having a conical head and has a wedge angle which is greater than the angle between the faces 17, 18. If the angle of inclination to a plane traverse to the cylinder axis of the face 7 is less than that of the face 18 the cylinder will be locked when it is heated.
