Couplings.-A device for securing flexible leads to plug-couplings or other fixtures comprises a single screw that acts only to secure the leads, and grips them either directly or by operating one or more gripping or wedging members. If the screw acts directly it has an enlarged end that abuts against the leads, but a member b may be interposed, having an insulated face i and being either loose or held in place by engagement with the end of the screw a or with a pin or projection on the fixture d. The enlarged end g, Fig. 4, of the screw a screws through a narrow opening in the member d until this opening engages loosely with the neck f and prevents direct withdrawal of the screw. Alternatively a sheet metal member b, Fig. 6, may be bent to encircle loosely the enlarged end g of the screw a, the neck f being as long as the threaded part of the screw so that the screw can be released from the screw socket but not detached. Instead of sliding on a pin in the fixture, the member b may be pivoted thereon, and actuated by a screw arranged either as in Fig. 4, or longitudinally to press upon an arm formed on the member b. The movement of the member b towards the leads may be effected by means of inclined surfaces z, Fig. 20, the members being displaced relatively to the surfaces by means of the screw a<2> which is hollow and surrounds the leads. Means q may be provided for locking the device in the gripping position. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the screw a, Fig. 20 (Cancelled), advances in a fixed socket t and carries a collar u on which a pair of members bare mounted either resiliently or pivotally. The collar may be in screw engagement with the screw a which then turns without advancing axially. Instead of inclined surfaces formed on the fixture a conical surface a<1>, Fig. 25 (Cancelled), formed inside the screw a may act upon the members b, these being mounted upon a fixed ring u. The member b may be formed with a cam b', Fig. 30 (Cancelled), that is moved by a slider o moving on the screw a. Specifications 13274/10 and 78/13 are referred to.
