Abstract
259,484. Hardy, H. H. April 13, 1926. Fastenings for sliding windows.-A device for securing windows in open or closed position comprises a lever latch pivoted on the upper sash in a plate in which it is normally flush and from which it is released by pressure to engage the lower sash. Fig. 2 shows the lever latch a pivoted in lugs c' on a plate secured to the upper sash. Normally it is retained in the position shown in dotted lines by a spring bolt in the housing c3. The latch is pressed past the bolt into the position shown in full lines, where it engages a rack f on the lower sash. In a modification, the latch is automatically pressed outwards into operative position, and is normally retained by a lateral catch n, Fig. 7. The rack f may be set vertically on the meeting rail of the lower sash.
