Abstract
258,423. Beardmore & Co., Ltd., W., and Webster, T. H. Sept, 16, 1925. Loading-appliances.-Hydraulic rammers have the piston rod F and cylinder E connected to telescoping girders A, C, respectively, which form a cantilever structure to relieve the piston and cylinder from lateral strains. The arrangement permits of the use of a smaller cylinder with consequent saving in pressure water. Shocks at the end of the return stroke of the rammer are deadened by a tapered control-rod O which enters a recess N formed in the piston.
