Abstract
258,215. Bosch Akt.-Ges., R. Sept. 14, 1925, [Convention date]. Lenses.-In a front glass for a vehicle or like lamp provided with wedge-shaped or prismatic ribs, one set of such ribs is arranged vertically so as to bend the rays outwards laterally, whilst another set is arranged inclined inwardly towards the bottom of the glass so as to bend the rays outwards downwardly and laterally. In both forms shown in the Figures, less than half the surface of the front glass is covered by concentric and vertical wedge-shaped or prismatic ribs b, b<1> adapted to provide lateral and ground illumination, whilst the remainder is covered by vertical substantially hemi-cylindrical ribs c, c<1> which diffuse the light to both sides to a less degree than the ribs b, b<1> for distant illumination, both sets of ribs being separated by plane strips e. The inner faces of the prismatic ribs are convex whilst the outer faces are at right angles to the surface of the cover glass.
