Abstract

257,659. Pateman, A., and Imperial Typewriter Co., Ltd. June 2, 1925. Paper-supports. - The spindle 3 of a detachable platen roller 2 is provided with a bearing 5 which is received by an open recess 4 in the carriage end-plate 1 and is rigidly secured by a clamp. The clamp may consist of a spring-urged lever 6 having a wedge surface 7 for engaging the bearing, the lever being pressed backwards by the 'bearing when the latter is inserted in the recess, and then springing forward to clamp the bearing. To facilitate insertion of the bearing in the recess the recess is bordered by inclines, and the bearing is formed with two shoulders 9 for engaging the sides of the end-plate, the inner shoulder being bevelled. In a modification, a screwed member is employed for clamping the bearing.
