Abstract
257,341. Price, S. L. May 28, 1925. Loud-speakers ; diaphragms. - A combined lamp and loud-speaker, Fig. 1, comprises a coiled horn 1 mounted by spider-arms 3 on top of the column 4 of a table lamp, the shade 5 being supported on a flange 6 on the sound-box 2 of the loud-speaker. Fig. 2 shows a construction of pendant lamp having a modified form of coiled horn, the lamp socket 8 being carried by spider-arms 7. An annular piece of silk &c. may extend inwards from the shade 5 to within a short distance of the edge of the mouth of the horn. Figs. 3 - - 6 show constructions of a combined lamp and large diaphragm type of loud-speaker in which the inverted sound-box 2 is connected to the diaphragm 11, which is preferably made of feathers, by a rod 10, the periphery of the diaphragm being connected to the box 2 by means of spider-arms or a solid or skeleton disc 12. Parts of the shade frame may be hinged as in Fig. 3 for convenience of assembly, or the box supporting frame may be hinged as in Fig. 4. In the construction shown in Fig. 6, the supporting member 12 may be designed to form part of the lamp shade.
