Pumps, rotary; driving-gear; crank chambers; cylinders. cooling. - In two-stroke-cycle engines of the oppositely-moving piston type, wherein the pistons 9 drive two crank shafts 7, 7<1>, the shafts are geared together at each end. At one end reducing gear 10. 11 is used to drive the propeller shaft 12, which is journaled in a. casing 2. At the other end bevel gear 13, 16 is used to drive a vertical shaft on which is a compressor for supplying air to the carburettors 23. The magnetos 21 are driven from a spur pinion 20 and a water pump 19 and oil pump (not shown) through a bevel pinion 17 and gearing 18.
