Abstract

256,424. Nicholls, C. H. Sept. 29, 1925. Sockets.-In a socket comprising a series of externally and internally tapered sleeves b, the innermost of which is adapted to engage the tapered end a' of a tool, each sleeve is provided with an axial pin c slidable in its smaller end to act as an ejector for the next inner sleeve or the tool. Each pin has a flat-sided head c<1> to prevent its rotation and is prevented from complete disengagement by a screw d. The tool and sleeves may have tang-ends a<2>, b<2> engaging flat-sided recesses b<1> &c., or may be plain and rotated by friction only. The length of the pins is so arranged that the tool will be ejected first and then each sleeve in turn. According to the Provisional Specification the pins have enlarged ends to prevent disengagement.
