Abstract
A profile tool for use in construction, in particular brick or block laying. The tool comprises a vertical elongate staff 14 attached to a clamp. The jaws 1, 2 of the clamp each has a tang (8, 9 figure A) such that the clamp and staff can be secured to a course, or courses, or bricks or blocks. The jaws each further have adjusting screws 10 that can plumb or angle the staff. Bolts 12, 13 and hand wheels 12a, 13a can also plumb the staff, and a bolt 4 passes through both jaws. An intermediary stay (17 figures D-G) is secured to the staff, and thumbscrews (18, 19 figures D, E, G) can be used to secure and plumb the staff on an external corner, while hook bolts 24 (figure F) can be used on internal corners. An adjustable slide hitch (15 figure G) and/or stay 29 (figure K) is attached to the staff via a sliding plate (11 figures G, K). Parts are extruded in aluminium, steel or composite material.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMPYING DRAWINGS
Referring to Fig A the mortar bed joint of brickwork 3 (is 3 courses in this instance but can be less or more) the bed joint at 3a is pre raked using a specifically dimensioned raking tool as shown at Fig L is in order to fit the clamp staff with tang 8 and 9 onto the brick 3 whereas the clamp staff is formed with at least a configuration of jaw 1 and 2 and staff 14 as shown Fig B which is placed upon bricks 3 whereby bolt 4 end passes through the aperture 5 of jaw 1 (and stabilizing plate as shown at Fig M in other configuration) and secured through at least the thread holes of aperture 6 of jaw 2 whereas the bolt nut 7 is spanner turned down to draw in the jaw 2 against tangs 8 and 9 on bricks 3 whereby the staff 14 as Fig B is extended through jaw 2 to provide additional stability to the upper staff 14 and also to support strengthen and align the jaws 1 and 2 and bolt 4 and also to allow all the parts to slide and adjust in at least the staff hole or slot 12b shown at Fig B to form a complete integral clamp of all these essential parts and will allow for at least adjusting screws 10 that are at least external or protected internal of the apertures 5 and 6 that can adjust to plumb or angle the staff on the face plain and then in side plain at location hand wheels 12a and 13a against washer 12c and 13c as Fig D on bolt 12 and 13 to clamp and also set the staff at least plumb
Referring to Fig B likewise described at Fig A
Referring to Fig C likewise described as at Fig A and B
Referring to Fig D the integral clamp staff unit is fixed as Fig’s A B and C whereby fully adjustable sliding line hitch or stay or swivel clamp gauged holder plate 11 will be lifted in the aperture 26 of staff 14 to a random position or gauge mark on the staff and secured there whereby the gauge is set from the underside of tang 8 to a line (not drawn) that will be set through line guide channels of the fully adjustable slide hitch line gauged holder 15 that will allow for each course of bricks or blocks or similar to be laid on at least a mortar bed to any size gauge that is required whereby holes 16 will allow for an attachable or sliding intermediary stay 17 to be fixed in when required against or with the wet or set construction works as they proceed for this external comer to keep the staff in plumb or angled as determined at vial 24 by adjusting the thumb screws 18 and 19 against the brick 3 (and for the internal comer the stay is located at hole 20 and hook bolts 24 as at Fig F and can be used in the original thread holes 18 and 19 of the stay to place and clamp across the brickwork that can thereafter be adjusted to keep the staff in plumb as shown in Fig E, F and G and the further swivel clamp 21 can also be used for cross clamping if preferred by placing a cross member (not drawn) into cleat 22 and secured at hand wheel 23 whereby its distal end can be clamped or screwed to any location within its reach
Referring to Fig E the intermediary stay 17 can be secured through the staff clamp 14 as shown at Fig D whereby stay 17 at thumbscrews 18 and 19 can be screwed-in to plumb and secure the staff 14 at any fixed or a sliding position on the staff when the stay is fixed to the sliding plate 11 as in Fig G of which sliding stay as at Fig K can be turned 180 degrees and reinserted into the aperture 26 to suit internal or external comer or splay situations
Referring to Fig F shows as at Fig E the stay 17 in reversed mode that will allow hook bolts 24 to be inserted into the thumb screw holes as 18 and 19 and placed across the bricks or block and so on to hook the back of the brick and can be plumbed or angled by screwing at least square or wing nuts 25 to secure and plumb or tingle the staff 14
Referring to Fig G shows the intermediary fixed stay 17 (of which can also be a sliding stay as shown at Fig K) is fixed to the staff 14 via bolt 16 against washer 16a to stay 17 for an external comer whereby thumb-screws 18 and 19 can be screwed into the brick face to plumb or angle and secure there while the fully adjustable slide line hitch 11 and 15 in staff 14 sliding aperture 26 will carry the line to each gauge mark to allow the bricks to be precisely laid and bedded on mortar to each course lift
Referring to Fig H shows at least one of my designs in a side elevation of the main clamp section 1 or 2 that will at least be extruded from aluminum or steel and so on or similar section as explained herein whereby at least fabrication indentation markings 26 also extruded in the material of which can be cropped to give precise locations of fabrication guide means for producing some of the components of the clamp staff unit
Referring to Fig J shows at least one other of my designs as explained herein whereas the indent notch la will form a hammerhead at the distal end of the jaw tang 8 and 9 in order to prevent brick end crush when clamping whereby serrations 27 will give superior in integral clamping facility of some of the essential parts to clamp to the brickwork or similar foundations whereby the material has strengthening features as at least shown at 28 in arc detail of which also conforms with the same main functions of the Prostaff as explained herein including that this material when cropped through at 26a will provide for the jaw section as at Fig A 1 and 2 and the swivel clamp as at Fig D 21 and swivel clamp parts as at Fig D 21 and 22
Referring to Fig K shows a sliding stay 29 fixed on plate 11 whereas this stay (and swivel clamp) can be rotated 180 degrees to suit at least left or right hand fixing situation
Referring to Fig L shows a gauge raking tool 30 of which will be the correct width of mortar bed to be raked out whereby gauge marks 31 and the thickness of the tool will give the depth and thickness to rake out for the tangs 8 or 9 to insert
Referring to Fig M shows the stabilizing and alignment plate 32 to be fixed with bolt 4 as at Fig A to at least any space of any configuration of the staff clamp and between jaw 1 and 2 in order to provide at least intermediary stability and alignment of the essential staff clamp parts whereas hole 34 will also allow at least a steel or aluminum and so on bolt to affix any number of plates to and with the staff clamp and at any locations along the clamp staff
