Abstract

Catch gear of mine-cage type.-A rope grip of the wedge and tapered jaw type for rope haulage systems and mine cage catch gear comprises, as used for haulage systems, a tapered slotted jaw A, Figs. 1 and 2, engaging the rope M and provided with a tapered wedge D having a groove engaging a guide rib F on the jaw. The operating lever B is connected to an extension of the jaw by a bolt C and to the wedge by a bolt E. A spring G mounted on the jaw presses on the lever B. As adapted for mine cage catch gear an extension A', Fig. 3, on the jaw is mounted on the cage, and the arm B carries a weight W and is connected by a chain N having a screw adjustment P to the hoisting rope O.
