Abstract
254,722. Germer, H. July 4, 1925, [Convention date]. Embossing.-In a press for forming embossed tickets &c., by punching out characters in paper and impressing them into a cardboard backing, the lower member e of the press has a hollow cylindrical guiding stem f sliding in a similarly-shaped part of the base a and of such a diameter as to extend to the edge of the member e so as to ensure parallel movement of the member e with unsymmetrical distribution of pressure. The press is operated by eccentrics i on a shaft k, which engage a member g loosely mounted in the stem f and having sliding contact with a wedge member m on a screwedspindle n journaled in the stem f. By rotation of the spindle n, the depth of embossing can be adjusted. Steel plates h on the member g take the thrust of the eccentrics i. The stem f is slotted at its lower end so as to fit over the spindle k. A table j is slidably mounted on the member e to receive the paper, cardboard, and type characters.
