Abstract

252,647. Bernat, R. Feb. 28, 1925. Float valves.-Apparatus for regulating the flow of liquids, particularly liquefied refrigerant in refrigerating apparatus, and for separating vapour from the liquid, comprises an open-topped can float 3 into which the liquid flows from an inlet 2 of the float chamber 1 until it overflows into the chamber, a needle valve 7 slidably mounted in the hollow stem 4 of the float and pressed downwards by a spring 9, and a spring 10 serving to support the weight of the float. A screen 12 surrounds the ports 13 leading to the valve chamber, and a bye-pass 14<1>. which may be adjusted by a manual valve, is provided to ensure minimum supply of liquid. In the case of refrigerating apparatus, vapour formed in the chamber passes out through an opening at the top of the chamber.
