Sheet-registering devices.-A variable driving- mechanism for use in registering sheets against the stops of printing-machines at a slower speed than they are moving before they reach the stops is constructed of a driving-wheel 2, eccentrically mounted on a shaft 1 geared to the printing or other machine, and a driven wheel 3 in gear with the wheel 2. The wheel 3 is mounted on a shaft 5 connected by a link 13 to the centre of the wheel 2 so as to keep the wheels 2, 3 in engagement in all positions of rotation of the shaft 1, and the shaft 5 is carried by a link 6 pivoted on the shaft 7 of a wheel 9 connected by chain gearing to the shaft 5. The shaft 7 is mounted in eccentric bearings to permit of adjustment of the chain 12, and this shaft 7 is geared to the sheet-forwarding rollers. The arm 6 may be made in sections to permit of adjustment of the chain 12. In a modification, the chain gearing between the shafts 5, 7 is replaced by a number of geared spur wheels carried by the link 6.
