Abstract
251,404. Robertson, T. E., (Power Specialty Co.) March 24, 1925. Air, supplying. - Tubular stills for cracking hydrocarbon oils are heated by furnace gases obtained by burning fuel in excess, of air in order to obtain a large volume of heating gases at a relatively low temperature. The air is preheated by means of the waste gases. The still comprises two chambers A<1>, A<2> separated by a bridge wall A<3>. Oil from a pipe C, gas or coal is burned in the chamber A<1> by air admitted through inlets D. The combustion gases pass through the chambers to flues F and through tubular heatexchangers H, through which the air supply to the inlets D is drawn, to a stack B. The oilheating tubes comprise tubes E in the side walls of the chamber A<1>, tubes E<1> in the roof and a bank of tubes E<2> crossing the chamber A<2>.
