Abstract
251,140. Imray, O. Y., (Farbwerke vorm- Meister, Lucius, & Briining). June 24, 1925. Trisazo dyes are obtained by coupling an aromatic hydroxy compound capable of coupling twice on the one hand with a diazotized amine and on the other with a diazotized aminonaphthol sulphonic acid, and then coupling the disazo dye with a diazotized amine.-As amines are specified sulphanilic acid or its substitution products, picramic acid, nitro- or halogen-arylamines which may be sulphonated or not; as double-coupling hydroxy compounds are mentioned resorcinol. alphanaphthol, 2 : 7-dioxynaphthalene and its isomerides; H-acid, K-acid, 2 : 8 : 6-acid, J-acid, and 1 : 8: 4-acid are specified as aminonaphtholsulphonic acids. The products are acid dyestuffs yielding fast brown shades on leather tanned either with chrome or with natural agents. The following dyestuffs are prepared according to examples :-(1) sulphanilic acid or 6-chlor-2- or 3- toluidine - 4 - sulphoacid # resorcinol # 1 : 8: 4-acid # m- or p-nitraniline or m-nitrop-toluidine or 4-chlor-2-anisidine; (2) picramic acid # with resorcinol # H-acid # pnitraniline. 6-Chlor-2-toluidine-4-sulphonic acid is obtained by chlorinating o-nitrotoluene, sulphonating, and reducing.
