Abstract

A holder for extendable snow poles comprises a pair of tubes 7,8 each having two loops of material 3-6 attached to the outer surface of tube, and a pair of straps 1,2 passing through respective loops on each tube. Each strap includes releasable fastening means 9,10. The arrangement is such that the tubes may be releasably attached to around the leg of a snow sports participant (see figure 2) and a collapsed snow pole stored in each tube. The holder may consist of a single tube attachable by one or two straps to a snow sports participants leg.

Description

LEG MOUNTED SNOW POLE HOLDERS
Description:
This invention relates to a device for storing extendable (snow or walking) poles on the lower leg of someone participating in snow sports or outdoor activity. The invention is primarily targeted to assist snowboarders to be able to access the snow poles so they can use them on flat terrain, and then to be able to store the snow poles when snowboarding downhill.
To enable extendable snow poles to be easily stored and then readily accessed again, the present invention involves attaching two tubular lengths of plastic pipe to either side of the wearer's lower leg by straps. The tubes are each sealed at the bottom to hold the snow poles in place.
To ensure the plastic tubes stay well secured to the calf while been worn, two loops are attached to each pipe through which the two straps are each fed. The straps may be secured by Velcro or a buckle mechanism, to hold the plastic tubes securely around the wearer's lower leg.

Claims (8)

  1. LEG MOUNTED SNOW POLE HOLDERSC a i rn s: 1. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination comprising: a plastic tube sized to receive an extendable snow pole and with one end of the plastic tube sealed to contain the snow pole when housed in the plastic tube; and with a length of material attached at each end to the upper third section of the outside of the plastic tube, such material sized to receive a strap sized to overlie an outer lower leg of a snow sports participant, said strap to be able to be threaded between the two attached sections of the material so that the strap can secure the plastic tube against the outer lower leg of a snow sports participant.
  2. 2. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination of claim 1 and further comprising: a second length of material attached at each end to the lower third section of the outside of the plastic tube, such material sized to receive a strap sized to overlie an outer lower leg of a snow sports participant, said strap to be able to be threaded between the two attached sections of the material so that the strap can secure the plastic tube against the outer lower leg of a snow sports participant.
  3. 3. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination of claim 2 and further comprising: a strap sized to overlie an outer lower leg of a snow sports participant where such strap is able to be secured by Velcro or by a buckle; and the strap is passed through the upper material section referred to in claim 1.
  4. 4. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination of claim 3 and further comprising: a second strap sized to overlie an outer lower leg of a snow sports participant where such strap is able to be secured by Velcro or by a buckle; and the strap is passed through the lower material section referred to in claim 2.
  5. 5. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination of claim 4 and further comprising: a second plastic tube sized to receive an extendable snow pole and with one end of the plastic tube sealed to contain the snow pole when housed in the plastic tube; and with a length of material attached at each end to the upper third section of the outside of the second plastic tube, such material sized to receive a strap sized to overlie an outer lower leg of a snow sports participant, said strap to be able to be threaded between the two attached sections of the material so that the strap can secure the plastic tube against the outer lower leg of a snow sports participant.
  6. 6. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination of claim 5 and further comprising: a second length of material attached at each end to the lower third section of the outside of the second plastic tube, such material sized to receive a strap sized to overlie an outer lower leg of a snow sports participant, said strap to be able to be threaded between the two attached sections of the material so that the strap can secure the plastic tube against the outer lower leg of a snow sports participant.
  7. 7. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination of claim 6 and further comprising: the straps from claim 3 and 4 being passed through the respective upper and lower material sections attached to the second plastic tube in claims Sand 6 to enable the two tubes to be reasonably held against the outer lower leg of the snow sports participant.
  8. 8. A leg mounted snow pole holder combination, comprising: A means for releasably holding two plastic tubes against a snow sports participant's lower leg including upper and lower straps attached to a pair of vertically spaced locations on each tube and two pairs of mating barb and loop fabric sections for releasably attaching a pair of terminal ends of each of the straps after they have been wrapped around the snow sports participant's leg.
