Elements, converting into other elements.-A modification of the process described in the parent Specification for converting mercury into another element consists in passing an electric current through the mercury. Two electrodes, which may be of a material passive to the mercury, for example of iron which becomes coated with a passive oxide layer, may dip into mercury at a definite distance apart. The current may be ether alternating or direct.
