Abstract
250,851. Davis, E. Nov. 3, 1925. Inkstands.-An inkstand is provided with an ink-feeding plunger having a feed tube and a regulating-device detachably mounted in the lower end of the tube. The inkwell 10 is provided with an airtight cap 12 in which is frictionally mounted a sleeve 14 depending into the well and having a recess 16 formed in the head 15. Sliding in the sleeve is a plunger 20 having a head 21 and a central ink-supply tube 22. Tubular members 28 extend through the outer walls of the plunger into the bore of the tube 22 and a controlling member 29 is mounted in the lower end of the tube between the members 28. The member 29 comprises a head 30 serving as a closure for the tube, and a stem provided with spiral ribs to serve as baffles and prevent the ink from being forced too suddenly up the tube on depression of the plunger. The plunger is normally held in the raised position indicated in dotted lines by a spring 25 surrounding the tube 22 and acting against a tubular member 26 standing on the bottom of the well and provided with slots for the passage of the members 28. In a modification, the two members 28 are replaced by a single member extending across the plunger and provided with an aperture corresponding to the bore of the tube 22, the member 29 serving to hold the parts in correct position.
