Abstract

Respirators. - In order to give the wearer of a gas mask uninterrupted vision in a downward direction without the necessity for moving the head, the windows are made of eggshaped, elliptical or other form in which the breadth and length are different and they are so mounted in the mask that their major axes are in the direction of a line connecting the wearer's forehead and chin. The minor axes may be above or below the eye level. In the form shown, the mask a of pliable material has bound-in egg-shaped windows b with their vertical axes on lines c parallel to the forehead-chin line and their horizontal axes approximately on the pupillary line. When the windows are carried by metal mounts secured in the mask, for instance by pressing, a more elongated form is preferably used.
