Abstract
249,372. Nissen, N. F. June 10, 1925. Flat endless belt conveyers; push-plates and scrapers, construction of; endless belt push-plate or scraper and trough conveyers; idler rollers.- A device for removing clinker and ashes from the water trough a into which they are discharged from the water-sealed clinker chute b of a furnace, comprises a scraper conveyer c drawn along the bottom of the trough and kept up to its work by guide rollers g, g<1> mounted on axles carried by heavy plates h suspended by the engagement of triangular slots with pins i, i<1> on the side of the trough, so that the conveyer is subject to the weight of the guides and supports. The conveyer band c is carried by chains passing over chain wheels f, f<1> and has transverse perforated plates d, d<1> on both its faces. Shields k are fixed to the plates h to direct the ashes coming from chute b away from the rollers g, g<1>. The bulk of the ashes &c. is carried on the upper surface of the conveyer c, but any falling to the bottom of the trough a is removed by the scrapers d' and should a jam occur the plates h will be lifted until the scraper can ride over the obstacle. In a modification the guide rollers are carried on an axle mounted in arms fixed to a shaft journaled in the sides of the trough, one end of the shaft extending outside the trough and carrying a lever arm having a weight which acts to press down the rollers.
