Abstract

Coils and conductors; insulation.-Slot windings for high-tension electrical machines are arranged so that the thickness of the insulation diminishes and the number of conductors in the coils increases from the high-potential end to the low-potential end. As shown applied to the stator of a bipolar machine, the coils 1 - - 6 are connected in series, the coil 1 being connected to a high-potential source S, and the coil 6 being earthed at t. By progressively increasing the number of conductors in the slots from 1 to 6, as shown in Fig. 2, uniform heating, takes place in the coils notwithstanding the different thicknesses of insulation.
