Abstract

A blank of stiff, foldable material includes a front panel 53, 58-60, side panels 51, 53, a rear panel 54 and at least one base panel 51 a-54a, an upper part 53 of the front panel being removable to open the erected carton, a further portion 58 of the front panel being defined by cut lines along the upper and side edges thereof and being attached to the inside of the blank (Figure 4). The further part may be glued to the base panel and may have a printed design. The carton may have perforated lines aiding removal of the upper portion (8, 9, Figure 1) or be a Z-fold carton, slot 56 defining an upper removable part 51c, 52c, 53, upper part 53 being lodged behind panels 58-60 in the erected carton. Web portions 57 interrupt the slot and are folded between top and bottom portions of the carton when erected. A buffer panel 61 extends from a base panel and has tab 62 fitting in slot 63. Folding down the further portion 58 avoids obscuring the last few planar products in the box and avoids a jagged edge after opening.
