Bed-reciprocating apparatus.-The bed 1 of a continuous-revolution cylinder printing-machine is reciprocated by a gear wheel 20, Fig. 4, which engages continuously a rack 21 on the bed, and is driven intermittently in opposite directions by means such as a pair of sector gears 14, 17 driven in opposite directions at equal speeds by spur gearing from a. common driving-shaft which is driven by a pulley. After the sector 17 has driven the bed to the right, Fig. 4, and has run out of gear with wheel 19 on the shaft of wheel 20, the wheel 20 is controlled by mechanism shown in Fig. 9 for reversing the bed and ensuring a constant stroke for the same. This mechanism consists of an oscillating forked bellcrank lever 32, the forked end 35 of which engages a pin 36 on the wheel 20 and completes the movement of wheel 20 after it has been freed from the action of sector 17. The lever 32 also starts the movement of wheel 20 in the reverse direction, and frees the pin 36 as the wheel 14 continues the reverse drive. The lever 32 is connected by a link 37 to a bell-crank 41 on a shaft 40 which is oscillated by a slider 42. The slider 42 is reciprocated by a double cam 46 formed with a raised portion 46<1> coacting with a pin 43 on the slider, and with a depression 47<1> coacting with a pin 44 on the slider.
