247,294. Lissen, Ltd., and Richardson, R. P. Nov. 13, 1924. Variable resistances. -In a rheostat or potentiometer of the type in which a rotating contact arm moves over a coil, carried on an insulating block the spindle 3 carrying the contact - arm is formed with a shoulder 4 abutting on the sleeve 2 in which it turns and is held in place by a leafspring 7 pressing on its end. The resistance wire 10 is wound on an insulating core 9 which is wrapped round the block 1 or inserted into a groove therein. The end of the spindle 3 may be spun over to secure the arm 5 in position.
