Abstract
The set consists of table and chairs or stools made of recycled corrugated sheet board The table consists of a table base 3 made from a tubular panel, comprising legs 3 defined by cuts 10. The legs are defined at the same positions where the panel is folded at an angle, with the ends of the tubular panel being joined together via a postal lock comprising fixing tabs and slots to accept the fixing tabs, or conventionally by fixing a protruding tab with glue on the opposing end. The upper portion of the base has a castellated shape 8 comprising protruding portions that are arranged to interlock with slot holes defined on the bottom of the table top 4. A further top 5 can be fixed over the table top 4, and top 5 can alternatively be made of a water resistant cardboard or an acrylic corrugated panel. The stools are manufactured in similar fashion to the table.
Description
Field of Invention
The present invention relates to corrugated furniture that can be used in a number of industries. The aim of the invention is so that it can be used in the prison industry and in NHS and psychiatric hospitals.
The product is lightweight and so cannot cause any damage to peoples or other items that are used in or around it.
The product is fully recyclable and is manufactured from recycled corrugated cardboard materials. This invention is also aimed at replacing the much heavier wooden and metal furniture versions which can cause harm to peoples and other items that surround it.
The chairs are designed to carry a person of 20 stone + (127 kilos) in weight and will undergo stringent health and safety checks in order that these weights can be achieved. Each chair will be sized at different heights lengths and widths depending on where it is to be used. Each table will be sized at different heights, lengths and widths depending on where it will be used. Each table will be designed to carry a sufficient amount of weight which is proportionate to what weight is used on the present wooden and metal versions now. This will undergo stringent health and safety tests.
Each chair and table set would be used in the canteen, reception and bedroom areas of the individual industries, and so make it a very versatile product.
Advantages of Invention The overall advantage of this invention is that it will enable the user or users to sit and eat in comfort but with reassurance that the invention would only be used for what it is set out for and so could not be used in a hostile situation or as a weapon? Other advantages of the invention is that both the table and chair or stool are lightweight and so can be carried into position or transported over long distances and so would intern cost less to do so.
This overall weight advantage would have less of an effect on the environment as there is less weight being transported. Also because it is manufactured in a recyclable material it has less of an impact on the environment. The advantage of having an acrylic cardboard top is that spillages can be easily wiped away as the water resistant top acts as a barrier and stops fluid penetrating the top surface.
Other advantages are that it is manufactured in an extremely strong corrugated cardboard material, able to with stand heavy objects and persons. The reason for this is that the corrugated "Flute" which runs along the length of the board makes it extremely ridged when used in a vertical position. So any load would be equally distributed between the boards.
Finally the biggest advantage of the invention is overall cost, which will be less than half the cost of the conventional wooden or metal versions, and once again have less of an impact on the environment.
Drawings The embodiments of corrugated cardboard furniture, it being of a corrugated cardboard table and chair set. The furniture assembly constructed in accordance with the invention will now be described using examples. With reference: to the accompanying drawings.
