Abstract

A mole patch that can help prevent types of skin cancer caused by UV rays. The plaster is placed over moles when using sunbeds and/or sun bathing, and has a reflective element in the centre to reflect UV rays, whilst the outside of the product consists of a thin, adhesive transparent material that allows the product to stick to the skin but doesn't block the UV rays, this helps prevent noticeable tan lines around the mole. On the opposite side of the reflector (also in the centre) there is a nylon pad which supports and cushions the mole to protect it from irritation and damage.

Description

DESCRIPTION:
Skin cancer is a growing problem through the UK and the rest of the world.
Recently a BBC news survey showed that about 800,000 young people used sunbeds last year, and according to cancer research around 9000 cases of malignant melanoma are diagnosed each year in the UK with 1800 of these diagnosed leading to death.
Even though the dangers of cancer are recognised by most people of 14+ tanning is still becoming more and more popular each year as is the industry.
There are a huge amount of Gyms, hotels, salons and shops all over the world that promote tanning and sunbeds which (as shown above) has proven to have devastating effects on people throughout the UK and the rest of the world.
People are advised to report to a doctor immediately if they notice any change to moles and/or skin growths as this can often be the symptoms of skin cancer, this is where my product is designed to help. The product has a reflective material on the top of it (measuring roughly lxlmm in perimeter) allowing CO moles, waIts and other small skin growths to be unaffected by UV rays, around the outside of this, there is sticky fabric which is transparent (measuring roughly 22mm in perimeter) this obviously allows the product to stick to the skin around the mole/small growth and is transparent to allow the user to position the product correctly so that the reflector is directly on the mole/growth. As well as the outside being transparent it is a very thin material that allows UV rays through, this helps to avoid large white tan lines around moles/growths. Underneath the reflector there is a nylon fabric, this simply provides the mole/skin growth with kind a of cushion to prevent any irritation or damage. The product is easily disposable for hygiene purposes. KEY:
