Abstract
246,695. Parkinson, A., and Parkinson, Ltd., F. & A. April I, 1925. Dynamos and motors, cooling.-Relates to enclosed dynamo-electric machines in which the air within the machine circulates in contact with surfaces cooled by an external current of air. The stator core 12 and annular casings 14, 15 mounted on each side thereof constitute with the machine casing 10 an annular duct extending from one end of the machine to the other. End-plates 18, 19 carried by the shaft bearings make joint with the annular casings 14, 15 so as to shut off the rotor completely. A fan 31 mounted between one of the end-plates 18 and an external cover 22, propels a current of air through the annular duct. The air set in motion by the rotor circulates as shown by the arrows, and is guided by annular members 33 secured to fins 32 on the end-plates, and by plates 35 secured to the rotor spider. External heat-radiating fins may be provided on the end-plates in addition to the internal fins 32.
