Abstract
A clothes line comprising two lines twisted together and fixed at predetermined intervals 1 to form a sequence of uniform twisted pockets 3 for the insertion of laundry or clothes hangers. The sequence may alternate from clockwise to anticlockwise to prevent twisting of the clothes line upon itself in storage.
Description
Clothes line description
This invention enables laundry to be hung onto a clothes line without the use of pegs or other such devices. It can be used on rotary airers, pull out clothes lines or on its own.
It consists of two lines twisted together which are then joined at specific intervals to create a uniform pitch and therefore a stable twisted pocket size in which to hang laundry.
If the two lines are not joined together at designated intervals the twisted pockets can enlarge or reduce in size.
If the twisted pocket enlarges in size the laundry item would not be gripped firmly enough and fall to the ground.
If the twisted pocket reduces in size the laundry item would be difficult to insert into the twisted pocket making it unusable.
The two lines can be twisted together in an anticlockwise or clockwise direction. However by twisting the first sequence of twists in a clockwise direction then joining together and the next sequence of twists in an anticlockwise direction and so on the overall clothes line becomes more stable and less likely to twist around itself in a stored position as one sequence of twists acts against the other sequence of twists.
The lines can be made from any clothes line material but a plastic coated steel line is less likely to stretch.
The pitch of the twisted pocket size can be predetermined at the manufacturing stage to accommodate different sized laundry if required.
The two lines can be joined by any method (e.g. welded, glued, clipped, ect.) but the join should preferably be small and smooth in size so when used in conjunction with a rotary airer or wind away clothes line they do not interfere with the opening or closing mechanisms.
Claims (3)
- Claims 1. A clothes line which has two lines twisted together of a predetermined pitch fixed at predetermined intervals so as to create uniform twisted pockets for the insertion of items such as laundry.
- 2. A clothes line which has two lines twisted together forming a predetermined sequence of twisted pockets, each sequence alternating from clockwise to anticlockwise to stop the clothes line from twisting upon itself when stored.
- 3. A clothes line which has two lines twisted together of a predetermined pitch fixed at predetermined intervals so as to create uniform twisted pockets for the insertion of items such as clothes hangers.
