Abstract

A retrofittable door handle and face plate assembly has a pair of handles 9, 14, an associated pair of face plates 1 and 4 and a pair of fixing plates 2 and 3. The assembly is intended for replacing an original assembly. The new assembly locates upon mounting holes that already exist in said door. Said fixing plates are located via screws passing locating in holes 5A, 5B, 5C via the use of screw housings 7A, 7B, 7C. Face plates 1 and 4 are located onto said fixing plates by screws 11A, 11B, 11C. One face plate and one fixing plate are located on both sides of said doors. The door handles are locked in position via a threaded ring 13.

Description

Universal multipoint lock door handle This invention relates to a device that can replace an existing old or broken multipoint lock door handle without the hassle of looking for a particular brand or make that fits the existing door. Finding a replacement multipoint lock for uPVC or wooden door handles has always been a tough task -there are so many different sizes and trying to adapt the wrong handle is near impossible. Calling out a window or door specialist to assess and find a handle with an exact fit will take some time as it requires ordering and transporting before the replacement arrives and is fitted.

With this universal multipoint lock door handle, it will fit most of the existing uPVC/ wooden doors without drilling anymore holes.

The invention will now be described solely by way of the universal multipoint lock door handle to demonstrate how it operates and with reference to the accompanying drawings-Figure (1) shows the view of the multipoint lock door handles fitted into the door.

Figures (2-4) show the deviation view of the front part of the multipoint lock door handle.

Figures (13-14) show the deviation view of the inner front plate In figures, a multipoint lock door handle, Front handle (1) and Back handle (4) also includes two inner plates. These are the inner front plate (2) and inner back plate (3).

On the inner front plate there are Pre-drilled holes (5A, SB and SC) for screw housings (7A, 7B and 7C). The inner back plate with Pre-drilled holes (6A, 6B and 6C) for screws (8A, 8B & 8C) and screwing fixing holes (bA, B, C and D). The front handle (9) and back handle (14), the small screws (hA, B, C, D, E, F, G and H) and ring nut (13) to secure the back handle. The screw housings (12 A, B, C &D) are used to secure the front inner plate to the front handle.

To replace the old! damaged multipoint lock door handle, place the inner front plate (2) onto the front door and ensure the existing holes are lined up with pre-drilled holes (5A,B &C). Insert the screw housings (7k, B & C) onto the pre-drilled holes (5A, B &C) and secure them with the washer and nuts. Then use screws (hA, B, C & D) to secure the front plate onto the screw housings (12A, B,C &D) inside the front door handle (1).

Push the screw housings (7k, B &C) into the existing holes on the door and place the back inner plate (3) onto the other side of the door. Insert screws (8A, B & C) through the pre-drilled holes (6A, B& C) into the Screw housing (7A,B &C) and tightened the screws. Place the Back door handle (4) on top of the inner back plate and use screws (liE, F, G &H) to secure them to the screw fixing holes (bA, B, C &D). Finally, put the ring nut (13) through the back handle and tighten the nut to secure the back handle.

Claims

Claims 1 A universal multipoint lock door handles that fits to a new or existing UPVC /wooden door with the rollers/latches/hooks (multi-points locking system) mortise. It reduces the time spent searching for a particular brand name! manufacturer that fits to the existing door. No special tools are needed to replace the door lock handle and it is uncomplicated. Also it saves calling an uPVC door specialist or even in some cases replacing the whole door.
2 A universal multipoint lock door handles according to claim 1, with flexible pre-drilled holes and screw housings at the inner front and back plate. This improves on the conventional design of having a fixed screw housing provided by other manufacturers.
3 A universal multipoint lock door handles according to claim 1 that provides greater security by using three screws unlike the conventional door handle that uses just two screw fixings.
