FAIRY LIGHT
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a fairy light, especially to a fairy light with improved casing.
2. Description of Related Art
A fairy light has a light source and a lens and is generally connected in series to form a fairly light assembly. The traditional light source is an incandescent bulb. The lens covers the light source and may be colored for aesthetic effects. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have advantages including improved electrical efficiency and being more reliable than the incandescent bulb and are replacing the incandescent bulb in many applications.
With reference to Figs. 7 and 8, a conventional fairy light (60) comprises a casing (61), a socket (62), an LED (63), a lens (64), two wires (65) and a connector (66). The casing (61) is tubular and has a light mount and a wire mount. The socket (62) is mounted in the light mount of the casing (61) and has an LED seat (621), a terminal mount (622) and two through holes. The LED seat (621) has a bottom and a top. The terminal mount (622) is formed on the bottom of the LED seat (621). The through holes are formed respectively through the LED seat (621) and the terminal mount (622). The LED (63) is mounted in the top of the LED seat (621) and has two terminals (631). The terminals (631) are mounted respectively through the through holes of the socket (62) and are bent to abut the terminal mount (622) of the socket (62). The lens (64) is mounted on the top of the LED seat (621) of the socket (62) and around the LED (63). The wires (65) are mounted into the wire mount of the casing (61) and electrically connect
S
respectively with the terminals (631) of the LED (63). The connector (66) is mounted in the wire mount of the casing (61), between the wires (65) to prevent the wires (65) from disconnecting from the casing (61) or short-circuiting between one another.
However, the socket (62) is mounted in the casing (61) with a frictional force between the socket (62) and casing (61). Therefore, the socket (62) and the casing (61) must be manufactured to similar sizes to ensure they are securely mounted together. Further, the wires (65) need the connector (66) mounted therebetween to tightly abut the casing (61), or the wires may disconnect.
Therefore, the socket (62), the wires (65) and the connector (66) may disassemble from the casing (61) easily and cause failure of the conventional fairy light (60), such disconnection is a fire risk and is generally terminal failure for the fairy light assembly that thereafter requires entire replacement.
To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a fairy light to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
The main objective of the present invention is to provide a fairy light that has a casing, a connector mounted in an wire mount of the casing, a socket mounted in an light mount of the casing, a light- emitting diode (LED) mounted in a top of the socket and a connector mounted in the wire mount of the casing.
The connector has two wings and two resilient tabs formed on the wings and engaging the wire mount of the casing. Therefore, the connector, the socket and the connector mounted securely in the casing.
Furthermore, each of the casing and the socket has a latch corresponding to and selectively latching with each other. Therefore, elements of the fairy light are securely mounted in the casing and will not disassemble easily.
Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
