Abstract

Rope grips.-In loadactuated grips for aerial cableways, the pair of pivoted gripping members a are geared together, and one of the members is provided with a projection d extending above the rope C to ensure that the rope and jaws are always in proper mutual position for gripping. Each member a is provided on its forward travelling side with a projecting nose e, Fig. 3, which on encountering a shoulder s formed in the sheave groove raises the clamped rope C from the central groove g and enables the carrier to pass without vibration. The depth of the groove g is not less than the radius of the rope C.
