Abstract
The oiler comprises a reservoir attached to the main body of the vehicle, e.g. a motorcycle, and refillable via a filler tube, with a breather tube to allow air expulsion. The reservoir feeds a valve comprising a seat supporting a spring-biassed valve ball. When the vehicle is in motion, bumps, undulating ground surfaces &c cause the ball to lift to release oil down a feeder tube (which can be cut to size) to the chain.

DESCRIPTION (Momentum Chain Oiler -January 2008)

Title: Momentum Chain Oiler
Background:
Summary description
This is a chain oiler for motorcycles or other motor / chain driven vehicles.
Existing problem
This oiler will solve the common problem on all chain driven vehicles where chains and sprockets become worn, damaged and would require replacement.
How it works
This oiler uses the vehicles momentum of up and down motion from the surface over which it is used e.g. uneven surfaces (even the undulation of road surfaces). The valve is situated at the rear of the vehicle on the swing arm next to the rear wheel. The vehicle would go over a bump and the valve would open and close to let a bit of oil pass down to the chain.
Features:
The key features are:
• Gravity-fed - responds to the varying terrain
• No wearing parts
• No specialist connections (including electrical or vacuum) required
• Easy maintenance
• Simple but fully functional
• Can operate with most oil-types - from light-oil to car engine oil, including biodegradable types
Drawings:
Drawing 1: Shows end to end functionality, from the oil reservoir and filler tube, to the feeder tube onto the chain.
Drawing 2: Shows the oil reservoir attached to the vehicle and the mechanism for refilling -via the filler tube with the outlet pipe to the valve oiler.
Drawing 3 / 3a: Shows the valve oiler mechanism. The spherical ring supports the ballbearing thus creating a seal. The spring supplies pressure to the ball bearing keeping it sealed when the oiler is not in motion. Additionally shows the outlet tube to the chain feeder tube.
Drawing 4: Shows the chain feeder tube which ultimately provides the lubrication to the chain during vehicle motion.
