Abstract

245,634. Fuller's United Electric Works, Ltd., and Welch, A. P. March 9, 1925. Inductances. - Formers for electric inductance coils comprise fiat, uncorrugated, thin sheet ebonite or other insulating material a provided on its outer surface with integrally formed, continuous, longitudinal fins b and bent round to form the former, its edges a<1> being overlapped or cemented or otherwise secured together. The edges a<1> may be butt-jointed and secured by an overlapping strip d. The fins b may be notched to receive the turns of wire and space the turns from the flat parts of the sheet u between the fins. The fins b may be parallel to the axis of the former or helically arranged thereon, and may be of unequal heights. To decrease the amount of insulation, the fins b and sheet a may be perforated as at e or have portions g removed. The. tube or one of the .ribs may be thickened to form a fixing support or to take fixing screws.
