Abstract

A wall mounted book holder includes a flat metal plate 1 with a plastic back 3 fixed to a wall, supporting a hook 5 formed by cutting and folding the plastic sheet 4. The folded sheets 4 have flexible magnetic sheets 6 adhered to each inside opposing sheet 4 and these are used to clamp there between a number of pages (7, Fig.3) of a book 8, in order to support the whole book in suspended vertical position.

WALL MOUNTED BOOK HOLDER

The invention relates to a book holder of the type which suspends books vertically on a flat plate to a wall without the need of a shelf beneath the book.

Normal shelves need accurate alignment and have strong cantilevering problems if not well attached to walls, and books have a tendency to fall over to their side.

An object of this invention is to offer easy attachment of flat shelving to the wall holding books up right by suspension.

Accordingly, this invention is made up of a flat elongated metal plate with a gap at the top edge to hold the hook shape of the individual magnetic book holders. The book holders are of a flexible flat plastic material cut and bent into a mirrored shape with 2 attracting flexible magnetic sheets adhered to the inside of each opposing plastic leaf.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows elongated metal wall bracket with a foldable plastic book holder in its open configuration; FIGURE 2 is a front view of a book holder in the open position; FIGURE 3 shows a book holder open with a few central pages of a book in between the two magnetic wings; FIGURE 4 is a view of the wall bracket with a book suspended on it, and a few other book holders in open and closed configurations.

As shown in Figure 1, there is a wall bracket made up of a rectangular metal platel with two screw holes 2, and another thicker material 3 behind, forming a gap from the top of the plate to the wall.

Figure 2 shows a book clamping device made of a single flexible sheet of plastic 4 cut and folded to form a hinge 5. Flexible magnets 6 are adhered to each inner side of the opposing plastic flaps 4.

As shown in figure 3, the book clamping device with flexible magnets 6 on both plastic wings 4 clamps together over pages 7 when inserted into a book 8 using the magnetic attraction.

Figure 4 shows the book clamping devices resting on the bracket 1 by the bent plastic hinges 5. Some clamping devices are closed 9, one is open 10, and one is holding a book vertically to the plate 1.

Claims

1 A flat metal plate wall mounted book holder consisting of individual folding magnetic and plastic sheets that clamps books vertically.

2. A wall mounted book holder where a series of individual magnetic clamps as claimed in Claim 1 have hooks shaped in the fold of the plastic material.

3. A wall mounted book holder as claimed in Claim 2 where the hooks of each magnetic and plastic clamping device are held in a vertical configuration on a flat rectangular metal sheet attached to a wall.

4. A wall mounted book holder as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 where a gap behind the top of the wall mounted metal plate allows for the hooking of individual magnetic and plastic clamping devices.

5. A wall mounted book holder as claimed in any preceding claim which is made from metal, plastic and wood.

6. A wall mounted book holder substantially as herin described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
